New Orleans police are on the scene of a fatal shooting at the London Lodge Motel in the 9300 block of Airline Highway.
Officers responding to reports of a shooting around 6 p.m., found a male suffering from several gunshot wounds to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The gunman reportedly fled across the railroad tracks on the south side of Airline Highway, authorities said.
Several people, many wearing Saints or Falcons jerseys, gathered in the parking lot to watch the investigation. An older woman was taken from the scene on a stretcher by New Orleans EMS.
Police have yet to release the identity of the victim or a possible motive for the killing.
