Howell Benefit Services Inc. launched DentalVisionPlans.com, a national online group insurance website for small- and mid-size employers and producers.
Plans are offered in 11 states, including Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and in Washington, D.C., with more states slotted during the coming year.
The Wilkes-Barre, Pa.-based benefits consulting firm says DentalVisionPlans.com is one of the first of its kind that allows employers and producers to instantly obtain rates, plans and provider networks; complete group applications; enroll employees and make status changes on one website. The website also lets employers pay premiums for multiple carriers and products electronically.

Roger Howell, founder and president of Howell Benefit services, said that while some national e-commerce insurance websites have successfully conquered online shopping, enrollment and premium payment functionality, most have concentrated on the individual market.
He said many of the group benefit websites that promote themselves as online, electronic or digital are ?still technologically incapable of performing every critical function? related to group insurance quoting, enrollment, administration and premium collection on one website with single sign-on access. He said such sites cannot perform those functions ?without relying on human intervention at one or more stages of the process.?
Howell says his site is 100% paperless and easy to navigate.
The fully insured dental and vision programs offered on DentalVisionPlans.com include a variety of benefits underwritten by United Concordia, and which Howell says are exclusive to his site. UCVision also offers a national network of ophthalmologists, optometrists and vision service providers on the site.
More than 3,000 employers are enrolled in the 11-states where the plans are offered, which also include Florida, Ohio, Arizona, California and Texas.
Howell was established in 1983 and provides employee benefits consulting, communication and administration for employers. It also specializes in web-based communication and third-party administration.
